Finance Manager Malaysia

Sungai Petani - Flooring

Your future job

As Finance Manager at our wood production site in Malaysia, you are the financial backbone of the plant. You don't sit in the back office — you go out, engage with operations, and ensure financial insights drive real decisions on the shop floor and in the boardroom. You are a key business partner to the Site Operations Director and a trusted sparring partner for the broader Wood business leadership. You lead a team of experienced finance professionals, coaching them from solid analytical work towards proactive, business-oriented thinking.

  • You take full ownership of plant controlling and costing. You are responsible for the accuracy of all cost data in SAP, develop and monitor cost control measures, and provide detailed costing insights that support pricing, operations, and strategic planning.
  • You look beyond reporting. When you spot variances, you follow them through to the root cause and drive the corrective actions together with the operational teams.
  • You lead all financial cycles: monthly closings, forecasting, and the annual budget process, ensuring accuracy. You like rolling up your sleeves and taking on key tasks within these cycles.
  • You develop tailored financial reporting for different audiences: local plant, business unit and corporate stakeholders. You make numbers understandable and actionable for each level of stakeholder.
  • You oversee inventory control and stock management: ensuring accuracy in inventory records, leading periodic stock takes, investigating variances, and working with operations to improve stock rotation.
  • You support capex planning and fixed asset management: helping determine the capex budget, validating business cases with payback calculations, and leading quarterly balance sheet reviews to ensure assets and liabilities are accurately recorded.
  • You safeguard compliance and financial governance: maintaining internal controls, ensuring statutory and corporate requirements are met, and supporting audits with a constructive mindset.
  • You act as a financial awareness builder across the organization: coaching non-finance colleagues, designing targeted training, and promoting a cost-conscious culture by being present and genuinely engaged on the plant floor.
  • You lead and develop your team with a coaching style built on trust, constructive feedback, and clear direction, helping each team member grow from strong analysts into proactive business partners.
  • You report to the Finance Director, located in Belgium.

Who are you?

  • You have a proven track record in a senior controlling or finance manager role, ideally gained in a manufacturing or industrial environment. You hold at least a bachelor’s degree in finance or a closely related field.
  • You are proactive by nature: you don't wait for problems to surface, you go looking for them, and you follow through to solutions.
  • You are a strong business partner: you combine sharp analytical skills with the ability to communicate clearly and convincingly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • You have solid hands-on experience with SAP, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI, and an in-depth understanding of costing and financial compliance.
  • You are a people manager who leads with trust: your team doesn't need someone looking over their shoulders. They need someone who challenges them to grow and gives honest, confidence-building feedback.
  • You are comfortable managing a diverse, multicultural team and bring out the best in people with different backgrounds, working styles, and perspectives.
  • You have strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

What can you expect?
